To celebrate the first berries of the season, I created a new Strawberry White Chocolate Cookie. It’s filled with dried strawberries, premium white chocolate, old-fashioned oats, and Vietnamese cinnamon. My daughter even told me it’s her favorite cookie yet!
And because these berries are the first of the season, I had to pay a little tribute to William Shakespeare… introducing the Strawberry Shake-speare Cookie!
Why Shakespeare? Strawberries were a familiar symbol in Elizabethan England and even made appearances in Shakespeare’s works. They were associated with summer, abundance, and simple pleasures, much like the arrival of berry season today. Since this cookie is packed with strawberries and practically begs to be enjoyed with a cold glass of milk (or a milkshake!), “Shake-speare” felt like the perfect historical pun. After all, if all the world’s a stage, then this cookie deserves a starring role.
